As far was American authors go, Ernest Hemingway is undoubtedly one of the greats. His career spans almost three decades, and includes such classic novels as The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms. Hemingway published his debut novel, The Sun Also Rises, in 1926, only a few years after the end of World War I. Since he has served in the war, his combat experiences shape the stories that he tells.
