On June 11, 1962 at 9:30pm., the Anglin brothers and Frank Morris escaped Alcatraz. Many wonder if they are alive or dead, although there was a body there is a lot of evidence that points to their survival; for examples, they built a boat and a life preserver, there were reports of crimes around the time they escaped, and there was a photo of the brothers. The prisoners built a boat out of sewn together raincoats and they also made life jackets out of raincoats. Did the prisoners survive? Yes, as they built a boat and life preservers out of raincoats they were prepared to face the waters of the Pacific plus in their situation the surge of adrenaline and fear of dying would give them the vigor to think and strength to survive. The water was also very stormy and turbulent, making it hard to swim across even on a raft. Above all, on a video, a team of scientists try to replicate the escape as closely as possible, they use the same jackets, glue method of stitching and use a computer program to predict what the waves were like on the day of the escape. Then when they did their experiments on a day that was similar to the day of the escape the scientists failed to achieve the same results and had to abandon ship. However, the body found was never identified, we also don’t know what was their exact path from the prison to land and the prisoners were likely more determined knowing that if they didn’t make it to shore they would
