Rice being known as the statement food in the country, is as its peak of demand. Most Filipino dish is never complete if rice would not be present. Every day, all kinds of people both coming from high and low profile purchase such. According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary- “the starchy seeds of an annual southeast Asian cereal grass (Oryza sativa) that are cooked and used for food; also : this cereal grass that is widely cultivated in warm climates for its seeds and by-products”. But due to the studies and research conducted, it has come to the senses of many people that Philippines could not be able to do so, for it is lacking of harvesting area. Why is this happening then? The main point to that is the booming industry of the country, which points to the rural areas which are supposed to be used as cultivated lands for crops are being turned into a industrialized place, i.e. building condominiums, shopping malls, and many others. It is simply not a bad thing for a country to improve its civilization but then, the government forgets or maybe ignores the fact that this country is an agricultural country. The whole place would’ve been in a better economic statues if there were only enough harvesting areas, but instead it is quite reprehensible that a principality of main function of being agricultural imports rice from other states since they could not be able to suffice their country’s
