Several seniors have complained that the senior year is just a filler year or just useless all together. But, what people have not put into consideration is reforming senior year to make it more beneficial for the students instead of just taking classes that do not pertain to them. The main reason to transform senior year, is to make it so that seniors can be more successful when the graduate. The traditional senior year of high school does not give students a productive year, or does it prepare them for the future, whether they are going to college or not. Senior year must not be a waste; it is a final chance for the students to have fun, but, more importantly, for young adults to make one last preparation for college, the work force, and careers as an adult. Senior year should be built around classes that will benefit them in the long run, instead of taking classes that they do not need. For example, you do not have to go to college to be a contractor, but you do need a highschool diploma. Which means that you could take classes that would be better for you in the future, Like construction classes, math classes that are just for contracting commodities. On the other hand, some students that do want to pursue a degree in college, can take classes based on their said classes. Usually, seniors are not the ones making dinner, doing taxes, laundry or going grocery shopping. Seniors should have the opportunity to take classes that will apply to them once they go off to college or go into the workforce. For example, Brody Ford is taking classes such as “personal finance, cooking on a budget and even sewing,” to benefit him instead of making his senior year a “slacking off waiting period,” (Krupnick).
