the american dream to many people was having money and all these materilistic things but people who were considerd to be living the american dream are never really satisfied and end up in thier own downfall. The american dream is a symbol of success and about having connections with certain people but these people living the “american dream” are blinded by money and is usually corrupt.In the novel the great Gatsby by F. The stuff he did to obtain his american dream was illegal and ended up bad for him all the parties and stuff he had was temperory satisfactions to fill in his loneliness.The american dream led hium to his downfall because of the way he got to it it was all a facade that couldnt get him happiness or daisy. He put up a fake persona in an attempt to get what he wanted but it didnt work because money does not buy love.Gatsby tried so hard to get daisy back but daisy had already moved on and had her own husband and was different from gatsby.Daisy wanted to stay married to her husband tom buchanan so that she could montain the position she had in society she cared more about that than finding happiness or love while gatsby would do anything for her love.Gatsby and daisy had very different desires which made thier relationship not work out.
