The Last Supper is a famous painting first created by Leonardo da Vinci. The Last Supper is a very respected painting in the Christian church. The two paintings I will be talking about is The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci and the second is by Domenico Ghirlandaio. When looking at both paintings it can be seen how beautiful they both are. Both of the paintings are the same but have little differences that make each there own. The paintings have differences in the ceiling, how the disciples are sitting, and just the general feel of the painting. There are many differences in the two paintings. In the painting by da Vinci, Jesus is placed on the same side as the disciples. He is in the middle facing forward, he is very open and I believe he is made to be the center of the painting. In the one created by Ghirlandaio, he is sitting on the opposite side of the table. He is in the center of the painting just with his back facing away from the audience. This makes me believe that he is communicating with the disciples. In this painting, he and the disciples look like they have halos on their heads. When seeing this you can infer that the disciples are angels and when they pass away they will reunite with Jesus in Heaven. There are also different ways they are sitting and how they might be eating the food that was prepared for Jesus’s last supper on earth. Da Vinci has them placed at a table with a clean ivory tablecloth. Ghirlandaio has them placed at a booth style table also with an ivory tablecloth but with black or even blue designs on the side. He really paid attention to detail because the tablecloth also looks like it has folding creases in it. Da Vinci has the table placed on the ground floor when as in Ghirlandaio looks to almost have the table sitting on a stage.
