The Civil War would not have been possible if it weren't for the hardworking Women who helped and made it become possible. After understanding and studying I have come to the conclusion that women were the strongest support system in the war. Some of the most evident reasons are women fighting in the war, women in supporting medically, and women who supported from home. Women did not have the easiest role but still managed to continue to work hard. This was also a time when women's rights were evident and women were showing that they wanted to have jobs, they wanted to go to school they wanted to explore and be a free woman.

Hundreds of women had given up everything to go fight in the war. Around 400 women had fought in the war disguising themselves. Both the Union and Confederate armies forbade the enlistment of women in the army. Luckily, it was never really hard for a woman to pass as a man in the war. First off there weren't many physical examinations, there weren't many requirements you needed as long as you were healthy, had teeth, and in good condition. Women felt very inspired by Florence Nightingale because she had revolutionized the British army medical services during the Crimean war. Nursing had originally been a male-dominated business. Women became nurses because it was their passion, exciting or an opportunity to be independent and make themselves useful. Women knew that there was only so much they could do and being a nurse was one of them. They were helping the men who didn't have the help they needed. Some women also did it for the money.
