The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and A Separate Peace may be two very different book but they do share similar themes and ideas. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is about a boy with a disability who investigates a dog’s death and A Separate Peace is about an all boys school during a time of war. Although these books might not seem very similar, they do share common themes, ideas and issues. One of the common issues the two books share is trust issues, in both books the characters have problems with trust. In both of the books it shows how it is important to have someone there for you. In both The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and A Separate Peace trust is an issue. In The Curious of the dog in the Night Christopher loses trust in his father after he learns that he has killed Wellington and lied to him about him mom. Ed, Christopher's dad, has to try to earn back Christopher’s trust after he has learned the truth about what has happened. It is very difficult for him to earn back Christophe’s trust, he had to be very careful with what he did and it was very hard for him because his son would not talk to him. Ed eventually starts to earn his trust back when they create a garden together. In A Separate Peace Phineas loses his trust in Gene after he is accused of pushing him out of a tree which resulted in him breaking his leg. Gene also partially loses trust in Finny because he think that Finny is trying to make him get bad grades by distraction him with games and activities. When Finny is admitted into the infirmary he does not want Gene to visit because he thinks that he pushed him. Multiple other people at their school, Devon, also accuse Gene of pushing Finny.
