“The Tiger’s Heart” is set in a small village near the edge of the jungle. “That was the daytime jungle they could see, feel and hear, but at night everything was unexpected”(Paragraph two). The jungle during the day was safe, but during the night nothing could be expected. The tone in the story has a neutral tone because it has suspense, but also happier moments. “Because he had not expected it there, Pepe did not see it until it was nearer than safety allowed” (paragraph 54). This quote explains one of the more somber moments in the story.
