Dear USC Viterbi School of Engineering graduate admission committee, A desire to extend my knowledge and an enthusiasm to solve the demanding problems faced by the industry today, motivated me to pursue Master’s in petroleum engineering. I believe that my educational background has instilled in me the qualities required to meet the rigor of this demanding course, and subsequently, the profession. I am an international student from the Ivory Coast. After moving into the United States, I first obtained my Associate in Art in Chemistry at Gadsden state Community College. I then transferred to Florida International University where I obtained my Bachelor in geoscience in July 2017. My geology courses helped me become more familiar with the domain of oil and gas. We learned, in classes such as sedimentology, petrology, and mineralogy, about some of the geologic settings where we can find these natural resources and how to identify them in the field. I have also been required to take a hydrogeology class where I learned about different type of wells and how they behave. …show more content…
I did some research on the drilling process and oil exploration and became more attracted to this field. I envision a career in petroleum engineer because it offers many advantages like working outdoor, and the fact that some industries offer the ability to travel around the world for oil exploration purposes. Another benefit of working in this field is that it offers one of the highest salary rate in the market. The ongoing growth in worldwide energy consumption means demand for petroleum engineers is high. Oil companies and service providers are actively recruiting graduates in this area, which means the possibility of getting a job in this area are
