I was 14 years old when I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Ever since my first citizenship class in 9th grade, I knew that I would go to college and major in political science. My high school does not provide many opportunities for students to learn about political science, thus my knowledge has been limited. I yearn to attend a college that allows me to further explore political science and public policy. Penn’s College of Art and Sciences is the perfect place for that.
The College of Arts and Sciences would allow me to explore my academic interests without restraints. Specifically, the political science major at Penn is exceptionally strong. The sheer amount of opportunities offered at the College of Arts and Sciences will allow me to exponentially grow as a learner and as a person. Overall, the nature at Penn will allow me to grow as a learner not only in my discipline but in others. Penn’s collaborative environment will allow me this. The small class size and the encouraged collaboration with professors will allow me to grasp a deep understanding of political science while at Penn. In addition, as a minority diversity is something that is incredibly important to me. This idea was only strengthened by my time at the University of Mississippi, because it was there that Penn’s constant emphasis on diversity as well as their strides to make every student from all walks of life wI long to be in a community where my classmates and I equally contribute in the exploration of each other’s interests.
