A dream is something that inspires people to work toward something. Dreams are something that many people experience. In the 1930s, people were having a hard time achieving their dreams, which was the case for Lennie and Curley’s Wife. In the novel Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, Lennie and Curley’s Wife have dreams that end up failing.
To begin with, Lennie has a dream to own land and animals with George. In the barn where Lennie and Curley’s Wife were talking, Lennie told her about his dream where he will “have a house” (Steinbeck 87). Steinbeck describes Lennie’s dream, which is to have his own land and tend the rabbits with George. They have the desire to own a clean house and be their own bosses. One day she was talking to Lennie and told him that a man she met was going to “put [her] in the movies”(Steinbeck 86). Curley’s wife wanted to be an actress in Hollywood. When she met the man that told her he could put her in the movies, she was excited and had hope. She wanted the lifestyle because she could wear nice clothes. Curley’s Wife did not receive a letter to be a movie star. Instead she “married Curley” (Steinbeck 86). Curley’s Wife always thought that her lady stole the letter. Curley’s wife had her dream fail and she could not be a movie star. In conclusion, Curley’s wife did not receive a letter from a man from Hollywood, indicating that her dream failed.
In the novel Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, Lennie and Curley’s Wife have experienced dreams that end up failing. A dream is something important to pursue because it gives people something to strive for. Dreams are relevant because it is something individual that it inspires.
