Anti-Semitism has been affecting the lives of many Jewish families for many decades. Just recently society has begun to accept Jewish individuals, but still there are countries and states in the United States who do not want to accept the Jewish people. Like the African Americans, Jews were affected by the “one drop rule”, but instead of slave owners imposing this rule, it was the German Nazis who imposed the rule. In addition, it was Adolf Hitler and the Nazis who believed that one drop of Jewish blood made an individual inferior. Even if an individual was not Jewish, but their grandparents were, they were considered to be inferior. Due to the Jews inferiority, they would be put into concentration and death camps and be separated from their families. In the end, most were killed in gas …show more content…

In addition, there is still a lot of racism in the United States towards African Americans. The “One Drop Rule”, made it so, anyone with a relative that was African American, made themselves African American. Even if they were 1/8 African American, they were still considered to be fully African American. It did not even matter if their skin was white; what mattered was what was in the inside anatomically and scientifically. Similar to the Jews, African Americans were not allowed to marry anyone outside of their race. Less than 50 years ago, “the Court finally overturned the prohibition of interracial marriages in Loving v. Virginia. At the time of this ruling, sixteen states still had laws on their books against interracial marriages” (Polsky 2002, p. 178). Due to the amount of racism towards African Americans, many white individuals who were raised to discriminate against African Americans did not want whites to mix with blacks.
