An antisocial personality disorder is a mental condition that makes a person show no regard for right or wrong and has a tendency to manipulate others for their own goals. For many, symptoms tend to show at around 15, however, most aren’t diagnosed until the age 18 (“Antisocial Personality Disorder”). There are many different kinds of treatments for this disorder, including therapies; such as psychotherapy and clozapine (“Treatment for Antisocial Personality Disorder”). People with this disorder are often charming for they tend to mask their aggressive and irresponsible characteristics at the beginning of the confrontation. Typically individuals only get treatment because a court has instructed them to. This disorder is very uncommon and is usually present in 3% of males and 1% of women (“Antisocial Personality Disorder”). This disorder cannot be treated by medicine, however, an antipsychotic drug called Clozapine that treats males can improve their condition (“Antisocial Personality Disorder”). Most people with this disorder are treated with therapy. However, some cases have shown that therapy can make the condition worse because some may not have the right resources and skill set. Whether the disorder is treated or not, also depends on the person and their willingness to be treated. The kind of therapy the therapist's use is called psychotherapy, in psychotherapy. They use anger and violence management along with substantial control and make the individual admit what they have done.
