I have been taught from a very young age not to judge a person by their words, but by their actions. For the success and failures of life show the paths of which one has journeyed and and plans to endure. The hardest path that I ever had to venture came about during my sophomore year in high school. In this year I was determined to distinguish myself from my peers and show that Tiana Johnson could handle the rigor of college classes, and - in less than three years - handle college itself. I set out to do so by challenging myself to take AP World History, with the knowledge that history is not my strong suit. The hardest path that I ever had to venture came about during my sophomore year in high school. In this year I was determined to distinguish myself from my peers and show that Tiana Johnson could handle the rigor of college classes, and - in less than three years - handle college itself. I set out to do so by challenging myself to take AP World History, with the knowledge that history is not my strong suit.
The beginning of the school year came and I entered the class full of hope, optimism and with a strong competitive spirit. This soon turned to frustration, and a road down depression. My goals of trying to distinguish myself did not come about as I had hoped it would. Week after week I fell further behind my peers, and further behind in the class. My inabilities to keep up soon reflected negatively in my grades. Quarter after quarter I tried my best to endure and keep my head high despite the fact that I was academically drowning but to no avail. Sadly, I had no support from my teacher and no support at home. This disparaging fact only made it even harder for me to bare the class. After a lot of praying about the situation I came to the realization that I can’t always expect things to go as smoothly as I hope and that there will always be times when I struggle, but if I always
