Scout and Aunt Alexandra have been having a bad communication ever since she moved in. Aunt Alexandra is trying to change the way Scout and Jem are for the good of the family. Aunt Alexandra and Atticus talk about the things that need a change. Jem,Scout and Atticus have a discussion about something important. Scout and Atticus talk a little more afterwards. Changes have to be done sometimes for the good of others. At the house,Aunt Alexandra talks to Atticus about something she has noticed. Aunt Alexandra talks to Atticus about Calpurnia. In the passage it states, “ Atticus, it’s all right to be soft-hearted,you’re an easy man,but you have a daughter to think of, a daughter who’s growing up.” Another piece of evidence is, “Alexandra, Calpurnia not leaving this house until she wants to.You may think otherwise,but i couldn’t have got along without her all this years.” In the passage, “Punk.punk,punk her needle broke the taut circle-she stopped,and pulled the cloth tighter:punk,punk,punk. In the passage it states, “In his lawyer voice, without a shade of inflection, he said: Your Aunt has asked me to try to and impress upon you and Jean Louise that you are not from run-of-the-mill people,that you are the product of several generations.” “Atticus preserved in spite of us: she asked me to tell you,you must try to behave like the lady and gentlemen that you are.” According to the book it states, “She wants to talk to you about the family and what it means to Maycomb County through the years, so you will have some idea of who you are, so you might be moved to behave accordingly.” This is important because they want Jem and Scout to learn about their
