My responsibility to America is to be the best citizen that I can be, and be involved in my government by being educated on political issues and voting for our government officials. It is our duty as Americans to make our country the best country in the world. Our founding fathers worked hard and sacrificed their lives to make America a free and safe place to live and raise our families.
The definition of citizen is to be a native or naturalized member of a state or nation who owes allegiance to its government and is entitled to its protection (Dictionary.com). citizen because my parents are U.S. citizens and I was born in the United States of America. Sometimes people come to America from other countries in the pursuit of freedom and prosperity. I think that immigrants who come to our country should be required to become a U.S. citizen and follow the laws of our country, as well as earn the rights and privileges that we have as citizens.
There are two ways to become a citizen: You can become a U.S. citizen by birth, or by law. If you were born as a U.S. citizen, you don’t have to do anything. If you were not born in the United States, or your parents were not citizens, you have to go through a process called “naturalization”. To become a citizen through naturalization, you have to have good moral character, and you have to pass a test. You are tested over your English skills and your knowledge of U.S. history.
The Constitution established the United States as a free nation which would be governed by the people. This basic idea is what proves that it is my biggest responsibility as an American citizen to vote.
