When making a permanent move to a new location it is known as migration, but what triggers this movement? It all relates to push and pull factors of why one may move or leave to a new country/territory/state. The factors that contribute to this is through economic, political, cultural, and environmental. Since the 1820’s till now there has been a big move of US citizens to California but lets dig deeper as to exactly what may have influenced them to make this move. At the beginning of 1822 there were three types of foreigners who immigrated into California. These conditions had made farming an unsustainable enterprise for those trying to make a decent living. But the Gold Rush had made its debut so they migrated to California even with hardly any gold left to discover they continued to work on mines given up on. Which soon came to light when they were able to set on their own venture. With Texas merging with the US many Americans moved in the area for cheaper land as well as Mexicans going to defend and expand their territory. Slavery soon boomed which drove a wedge between Northern and Southern states.
