Camcorders are one of today’s greatest advancements in technology. Not only do we get to record everyday things but he can do it in outstanding resolutions. GoPro hasn’t been around as long as some of its competitors like Canon, Sony and JCV, but it has advances to the top when it comes to the camcorder market. Only 11 Years ago GoPro was a startup Company. In 2012 Nic Woodman (creatorof GoPro) and Foxconn came to an agreement. Foxconn invested a total of $200 million dollars to a company that has been evaluated to be worth $2.25 billion dollars. In today’s economy it’s not very rare to see a company that only started out a few years ago to become a billion dollar corporation. Through in every company there are many changes that occur in the process. GoPro Changed very little by keeping what there known for the most, and that’s having the camcorder in a different position to give the viewer a unique prospective. When Woodman Initially started his company his idea was to have the camcorder strapped around the wrist of surfers. He took his first prototypes on his trips to Indonesia and Australia. From the year 09 -14 it had as small decline of 1.2%. It’s becoming more competitive because smart phones are taking over the industry. Just this past month Apple released the Iphone 6. The camera on the Iphone 6 is about the same as the latest GoPro Camera. Smart Phones are also leading in the industry because they are so convenient. GoPros and other camcorders are less convenient because you have to set them up and then upload them to your computer if you want to share them on social media. With smart phones you can do it all with one device. GoPros Top competition of camcorders as of right now is Sony. According to Consumer reports Sony is second in the industry holding 22% of the market
