I belong to a group of coaches that was formed by the people who trained us in coaching named Robbins Madanes Training (RMT). Conformity in the group is the way we think and act by the way we think we should to get along together (McLeod, 2016). The group is meant to help us grow as coaches with many different people from different backgrounds around the world coming together to help each other. Compliance is more like asking someone to do something, where conformity is changing beliefs or attitudes because of a type of influence felt (Constable, Shuler, Klaber, & Rakauskas, 2015). I have posted things in this group and been chastised for posting. The conformity I felt was to not post things that others do not like, or think is appropriate. I do not think that the members that jumped on me were trying to make me feel bad or chase me away, I just think that they thought my post was not of the proper type for what they thought the group should be. Conformity can be said to be the influence they felt to tell me what they thought, by the pressure of it (McLeod, 2016). People can change their minds to believe something that is not true just by the pressures of conformity (McLeod, 2016). If one believes that they should not talk about something, but originally thought they should, their belief was changed by something. One might call it conformity, compliance, or obedience, but the idea is the same for one who changes their ways because of others expectations (Constable et al., 2015). There is other conformity in this group because of who started it, and things they do to control it.
