You may not know what a cultural lens is, but it’s quite simple. We use these cultural lens very often, more than most people think. A cultural lens is seeing or viewing a certain way of the culture, but being able to take this cultural lens and understand different people and cultures. To have this cultural lens you need to have life skills like empathy, listening and understanding. Everyone one needs to know that each culture has certain ways of doing things in their culture and everyone’s culture is not the same. It’s very important because how different educations vary in different countries. In Asia, their learning is more advance than America. In Japan, their summer is only a month long. In some Asian countries if you’re not the top of the top, you are disowned in your family. If you go to somewhere in Africa, there education is lower because of where they live. In Africa, some people don’t even have any education, they’re probably barely making it on their own. In America, I’m very grateful to have an education considering people in third world countries don’t. Even though I’m very grateful for my education, America is not ranked the best educated in the world, were actually pretty low. Only one in four high schools in America teach students life skills that they need in college and on in life. America has gotten lower and lower in their education versus other countries. Overall, education is very important and if we don’t have a cultural lens it’s hard to understand other people’s education. I had no idea what cultural lens was and I’m glad that I understand now. I can tell my parents and other people around me to take off their cultural lens when they are around different cultures. I can even take off my cultural lens in certain situations now. I want people to learn about cultural lens. Whither it be religion or even race that they respect my culture and I’ll do the same for them. In closing, I will
