Three Types of Curling Irons Ever since we can remember, styling hair has been a huge part of both men’s and women’s lives. Men would grab for that mouse, or gel, and women would always grab for their curling irons and hairspray. It was just how everyone would see it happen in the older movies and the stereotype lived on. The way people style their hair, and the tools they use to do it, have definitely come a long way since they were first invented, however, the tools still hold the basic idea of styling. Today, there are three different types of curling irons that everyone use, but probably have no idea how they work, or even what they are made of. Barrel curlers are the most basic types of curling irons on the shelf. They have been used for decades now to add soft, loose curls to ones hair, or tight curls depending on how it is used. The majority of barrel curlers are made out of ceramic, which creates a shinier, softer finish at the end, and helps alleviate frizz. Barrel curling irons can range in price from $20 to $80 no matter where they are purchased, simply because they are not as popular anymore. Two features that all barrel curlers have, that help make them work properly, are the on/off switch, which sometimes appears as a button, and the heat control dial. This dial can be found on the side of the handle and allows the person using it to control the heat of the iron. The dial normally spins from 100 degrees Fahrenheit all the way up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the amount of heat needed to achieve perfection.
