Well, if you’ve placed much thought about it the simplest answer would have to be media. In the 21st century of modernization and globalization, media has become a tool for survival in the community. Through the wide varieties that media has to offer, countless citizens of the world have been accustomed to using it. However, society fails to realize that media in itself can bring about more damage to one’s own identity, culture and race. Moreover, media continues to imply the reality that a person’s character is defined by his skin color. To further illustrate, there have been several occasions wherein the issue of racial discrimination was raised in media. First, in Taylor’s Swift’s controversial “Shake it off” music video it seems as though she stereotyped the Native American dancers as “twerkers”. On the other hand, she decided to let the white dancers groove to more refined forms of dancing. Second, in the film entitled “White Chicks”, when the Native American guy started to sing a Vanessa Carlton song the other characters in the movie acted with such a surprised expression. In relation to this, it exhibits the fact that Native Americans are stereotyped as tough, manly and firm individuals. For the producers and directors, dishonoring the sacred traditions and practices of other cultures is no longer their priority. Furthermore, the producers of media continue to live selfishly by disrespecting the culture of other individuals in the world. First, in the flic entitled “The Love Guru” the audience gets to witness the mockery and foolishness of Indian heritage. To further illustrate, Mike Myers funny and insulting form of acting continues to demoralize the very essence of Hindu culture. With this, he portrayed the Hindu in the movie with such a funny accent. Just like a blank spaced diary, media started out as a mere form of communication and information. However, as time passed by day by day it further evolved into a personal diary filled with much hate, discrimination and prejudice. Eventually, it came to a point wherein gender inequality, racial discrimination and cultural dishonor became the highlights of the piece. Furthermore, up to this day it continues to spread misunderstandings among different groups of people. With this in mind, can you truly bear to live in a world brimming with indifference and hatred for one
