Primary Source Analysis #2 In “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions: Women’s Rights Convention, Held at Seneca Falls, 19-20 July 1848,” we are provided with a primary source that was created on 4 July 1848 by an abolitionist and prominent figure of the early women’s rights movement, Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The source contained lengthy and detailed information on resolution and grievance; immediate demand for equal social status and legal rights for women, including the right to vote. The primary source displays that before the Civil War, women suffered a great deal under the shadows of injustice and equality. Nonetheless, as the “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions,” was introduced during the Seneca Falls convention in 1848, the battle for women’s rights begun. The “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions” had a major influence on the social and political organization of the country. After the document was announced, all women began to stand up for themselves and it earned education reforms, health reforms, and several other significant changes toward the lives of women during the 18th century. This tone was reassurance for women that God did create man and woman equal. The authority of God supported her approach towards the rights of women. Nevertheless, Stanton did create a compassionate tone overall to grab the audience’s emotions standpoint to encourage the nation to take action to end women’s suffrage.
