Distracted drivers in the city of Dallas have increased daily traffic accidents, to help we propose a campaign to bring awareness and an app to deter cellphone usage while driving. Dallas is a large economic center with an estimated population of 7.3 million people, and still growing. In a city so populated, it is critical that all senseless collisions be avoided. This is why we are requesting permission from The Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce to implement a three step process that will be aimed to educate the public on the dangers of distracted driving. AT&T and The American Red Cross collaborate to present Stay Alive, Just Drive!

Through research provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration we have determined it is in Dallas’ benefit to focus on preventing crashes related to distracted driving. Texas has just banned cellphone usage while driving which took effect on September 1, 2017. Based on this, it is of strategic importance we implement our proposal immediately to support the ban.

First step to create awareness of our issue using social media as a platform. This guarantees we reach our target audience, as those using social media are more likely to use their cell phones while driving. We target portals users frequent. This campaign would focus on using the hashtag #JUSTDRIVE to collect and share accident stories. Participants will be encouraged to share why they decide to #JUSTDRIVE. Additionally, we push the new ban as a reason to why they should choose now to quit distracted driving.
Physical Campaign. This will follow the digital campaign and consist on The American Red Cross hosting blood drives in high schools. This dangerous habit can be deterred if young adults see the effects of collisions. Furthermore, we at AT&T will propose a course in Texas Driving Courses to educate learning drivers that they should not multitask behind the
