Do Mistakes Help Society? Do you believe that mistakes are a key part to discovery? Well I definitely believe so. I believe that mistakes can help discoveries in a couple reasons. A couple reasons are that they can show how to improve items, they can lead to new ideas, and they can also lead to new processes and theories. That is crazy how a silly mistake can cause such positive reactions. To begin with, mistakes can show people how to improve items. This has led to many great discoveries in the past. For example, in the article “How a Melted Bar of Chocolate Changed Our Kitchens" it states " It took more than 20 years, a lot of patience, and many mistakes before Raytheon perfected a microwave oven that people could use and could afford." This means that years of making mistakes lead to the perfect conventional microwave. That is a way that mistakes improved an item. Mistakes also helped Thomas Edison, according to his statement that inventing was 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.
