There are a lot of very unique properties of embryonic and adult stem cells. The stem cells are different from every part of the body. Stem cells are of renewing themselves after a long period of time. Another very unique property of embryonic stem cells are that they are not specialized. Which means that they are not only usable for one type of tissue. The stem cells use a process called differentiation. Adult stem cells unlike embryonic can only make tissue for the tissue they originated from. Embryonic stem cells can prolifate in a lab for months and can devide millions and millions of times. So as you can see there are many unique properties of embryonic and adult stem cells. There is a big difference between what embryonic and …show more content…
The potential uses for embryonic stem cells are that they could give more insight into human development. And the most valuable goal is to be able to be able to help with spinal cord injuries and cure damaged cells from diseases. The potential uses for adult stem cells are Could help cure many diseases and injuries such as a burn from touching something extremely hot. Finally there are also potential uses for both types of stem cells. Starting with the fact that someday we could use stem cells to stop the cancer cell growing process. Last of all both could someday identify how undifferentiated cells can become differentiated and form tissues and organs. There are many people who agree and disagree with stem cells research, which cause many issues. There are many technical hurdles with how to get the stem cells. Stem cells are not found in very large quantities and are harder to grow in large batches. Also there are a lot of legal limitations. There is very limited funding so they have to savor every dollar, also there is a limited number of cell lines they can get a hold of. There is also the fear of the great unknown. We don’t know what all these cells are capable of which scares some people. Those are many of the challenges that face stem cell
