In the late 15th and 17th century, people from all over Europe were coming to the Americas for better living, riches, new land, and resources. They wanted to spread the Christian faith and beliefs, and they wanted the land for themselves. Well I can rule conquerors out now because there weren’t as many of them as there were other people. The missionaries were sent over here to spread their beliefs. They were Christian, so they were sent to the Americas to convert the natives to Christianity. I feel like that wouldn’t be their main priority. It was obviously important to them, but they needed the resources and land more than they needed their faith. This means that they were either merchants or explorers. Were the Europeans in the late 15th and 17th century merchants or explores? That’s the question now.
