Censorship has been a hallmark of dictatorship throughout history. In the 21st Century, censorship was achieved through the examination and limitation of books, films, television and other forms of communication for the purpose of altering or suppressing ideas found to be objectionable. The rationales for censorship have varied from moral to military reasons. Thus, ideas have been suppressed under the guise of protecting our human rights and access of information with the possible solution of Hacktivism and VPNs becoming more and more controversial. We should think deeply as we read through the story,about the flaws of the societies both in real life and in the book, rights of intelligence and free speech need to be demanded. In the book,firemen's job is to burn all the books"Monday burn Millay,Wednesday Whitman,Friday Faulkner,burn then to ashes"(Fahrenheit 451 page 50 Ray Bradbury). Books are banned in the society like information is limited by the government nowadays. And the solutions to the topic is kind of similar to the problem in Fahrenheit 451, you can not change the fact of the presence of censorship so those hacking groups use their skills and hack the intelligence they need. Like in the story, Montag realizes something is missing in the society and people are all trapped in technology and living meaningless lives. But he could not change the perspective of them so he steals books and learns to read. He finds professor Feber,representing the hacktivists who think outside the box and get information to reveal to the public what they deserve to know. They all reflect the flaws of the society. For example, one of Mildred's friends says“He said, if I get killed off, you just go right ahead and don’t cry, but get married again, and don’t think of me”(Fahrenheit 451 page 342 Ray Bradbury)When another lady was talking about her experiences with children, it expresses the lack of knowledge of people"sometimes they look just like you"(Fahrenheit 451 page 346 Ray Bradbury), all these conversations reflect the morbid side of the society, people are all empty-headed with misleading information and talk about nothing either important or meaningful.
