Feminism is the thought of women equality to men. Although throughout history, women have not been seen a men's equals, the feminist movement, have been working on making women equal to men in work status and political status, as well as social status. “Throughout most of Western history, women were confined to the domestic sphere, while public life was reserved for men,” (Burkett and Brunell). While many text have made the point that women are controlled by men, and are seen as property, three stories are moving in this point. The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, My Antonia written by Willa Cather, and Yellow Wallpaper constructed by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, are all short stories that prove the feminist point of view in society. In The Story of an Hour written by Kate Chopin, the author constructs an intricate feeling of feminism though the irony of the story. In the short story, the author steps up the plot to be devastating at first. Women in that time, were pressure to wear metaphorical masks to seem happy and perfect. But under those masks, the women are unhappy and wish to change society sho they can live for themselves. But at the time, women didn’t know that they were unhappy. It may have taken a tragedy to realize that they needed more. “Know that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble, great care was taken to break to her as gently as possible the news of her husband's death,” (pg. 628 line 1). In this woman's life, she never realized how miserable she was, until she saw how amazing life could be if she lived for herself. “This feminism stresses personal freedom as much as it does equality,” (Sheinin, Dave, et al.). But in the end, her husband wasn't dead and she was broken and died of shock and
