I am in the process of completing the Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in finance with an expected graduation in 2019. I’m writing this letter to express my interest in the Haskayne Coop program. I am particularly interested in the program because I am eager to expand on my academic and extracurricular experiences to discover the value I can bring to employers. Overall, my experiences have facilitated the advancement of interpersonal skills, analytical ability and most importantly, they have enabled me to acquire a strong sense of initiative. Being comfortable with working with people is an essential skill, applicable to any field. My involvement with the Sherwood Community Association (SCA) has allowed me to develop upon this skill which will help me excel in the corporate environment, particularly ones with significant client contact. Furthermore, I have participated in the EY Leadership Program in which I worked with a team of students to analyze business cases and present solutions. My experience at Haskayne has involved participation in a variety of student clubs/programs, rigorous coursework and an extremely dedicated faculty. Through this, I’ve developed upon the attributes of enthusiasm, hard work, and a positive attitude. During a coop placement, it is important to show employers that Haskayne students are enthusiastic about learning new skills and keep a positive attitude throughout the learning process. Ultimately, this shows employers that Haskayne students are “coachable” and willing to work hard to obtain new skills and help their companies achieve its
