Since I have entered the Professional Health Exploration class I have been introduced to many different kinds of careers. It has made me realize many different things about myself that I don’t believe I would have, if I had not taken the class. I know for a fact that I am very interested in the Law Enforcement career field, but at the same time I’m also interested in the health field. The common between the two is that I will be able to help people every day I go into work, and that is really what I want to do. My first major of interest is Criminal Justice, and has nothing to do with the health field. By majoring in Criminal Justice, I will be preparing myself for a career in law enforcement. This major requires nine credits of communication, nine credits of humanities and fine arts, six credits of social behavioral sciences, six credits of history, eight credits of natural sciences consisting of Biology classes, completion of Math 1530, and 26 credit hours in the field core. The field core consists of classes such as Chemistry I and II, Physics I and II, Microbiology, Public Health, and Epidemiology. Human anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Human Genetics are all involved within the concentration courses. There are also 20 credit hours in electives required. With a Degree in Health Science I would be a well-rounded individual that could go into many different careers in the health field. This is a good major for pre-pharmacy students also, because it contains many of the prerequisites for Professional School. Many people that become therapists have degrees in Health Science. Even registered nurses, medical assistants, dental assistants, and pharmacy technicians have degrees in Health Science. This major allows many different jobs to be considered as I look for one that I am willing to make my career. It also a good major to pick if I graduate and decided I do not want to go to professional school and instead going into the work
