Homeland Security TOPIC 1: Homeland security has been a very important entity for the United States of America. Homeland Security protects the country from terrorist organization from doing attacks from within the United States and possible drug cartels terrorist related. Like anything else in the world there are elements that give capabilities and limitations to the homeland security. One of the biggest capability that homeland security has is information sharing. Thousands of illegal immigrants cross the United States Mexico border every year. This must be a homeland security issues. This is the main entrance for terrorist and drugs to get into the United States. Border patrol has been stepped up over the years but there is still numerous amounts of terrorist coming into the United States. “Still, evidence has mounted over the past couple of years, including a smuggling ring that sneaked four Turkish men with ties to a U.S.-designated terrorist group into the U.S. in 2014. They paid $8,000 apiece to be smuggled from Istanbul through Paris to Mexico City, where they were stashed in safe houses before being smuggled to the border” (Dinan) Even with customs doing inspection it slows down the transportation in extreme amounts.
