This line is from a popular song by dancehall artiste Buju Banton, which promotes human rights violation as the language use is derogatory and abusive and also because of the message being sent to kill homosexuals. Human rights according to the Oxford Dictionary of English are the rights which are believed to belong to every person. According to the United Nations, human rights are inherent to all human beings regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, language or any other status. Few of our human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, the right to health care, and the right to work and education. Human rights violation speaks to any action that breaches our human rights. In Jamaica there have been occurrences of human rights violation of people living with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, and people from the LGBT community. The reasons for the violation of human rights in Jamaica are because there is no legislative framework to support these rights, and because there is ignorance among the citizens. Firstly, the reason for the violation of human rights in Jamaica is because there is no legislative framework to support these rights.
