“Conservative estimates say that 15,000 people are trafficked into the U.S. annually, while others guess the number is high at 60,000” (“The Facts”). This statistic is an overwhelming number for anywhere in the world. Some of the most common places for human trafficking are in the eastern countries like China and India. The most common forms of trafficking are forced manual labor and sexual exploitation. Everyone could be affected by human trafficking no matter where anyone is. Human trafficking can be in many different forms, the two main forms of human trafficking are labor and sexual exploitation. Labor is when the traffickers sell the trafficked to others to do forced labor against their will, and they get to keep none of the money made …show more content…

According to U.S. News, the five most common countries to find human trafficking are Russia, China, Iran, Belarus, and Venezuela (US News and World Report). These countries are at a higher risk for people, but that doesn’t mean that they are the only countries that human trafficking can happen. Karla Jacinto, the girl that was just twelve when she was taken to Tenancingo, a town in Mexico near Mexico city (Romo). Towns like Tenancingo have a history for human trafficking, but the young girls taken there don’t typically know about the reputation of the towns. So, the towns are the perfect place for taking someone to traffic and sell. An article by the Wall Street Journal says that lots of human trafficking transportation happens by flight, on planes. Flight attendants are urged to look for possible girls or boys that might be trafficked. Delta Airlines is in the process of training all flight attendants to recognize possible signs of trafficking (McCartney). The Department of Homeland Security says that “Travelers will see a lot more warnings, and be encouraged to learn how to spot the crimes they may be sitting next to on flights”(McCartney). When the travelers see these signs they can be proactive and help the trafficked people get help. Some signs of human trafficking are if someone looks like they’re avoiding eye contact, is anxious, or shows physical signs of abuse, such as bruises, burns, or bite marks. These might be signs of
