Hunger is a very serious issue in the United States and all over the world. The statistics for hunger close to home are astounding. Just about everyone probably knows someone who has had trouble putting food on their table at some point. As the father of three it is unimaginable not being able to provide my children with a meal. It is very difficult for me to think there are children in America that are not receiving the proper nutrition. Any organization or charity that helps fight hunger needs everyone’s support. These charities are at the forefront trying to end hunger in America. The Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank is an organization in our area that battles hunger. This essay will give you a brief history of the food bank, what they do, why they do it, and why it is important. Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank mission statement: The Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank’s website (n.d. -a) mission statement: “To lead a collaborative network that empowers people to experience healthy and hunger-free lives.
