How can America truly understanding the worth of Black lives if we ourselves don 't fully know our own worth? I ask this question because the students in the Whitehaven High School community has see that America has forgotten all of the contributions that Black live brought to the table by inventors such as : Elijah McCoy is best known for inventing lubrication devices used to make train travel more efficient, poets like as Paul Laurence Dunbar who is most famous for his poem We Wear the Mask ,and military soldiers like the United States ' first all-African-American regiment, the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry a troop of all volunteer soldiers. My personal experience was my 11th grade year at WHitehaven High School. I walked into my English class and I noticed that every desk had a piece of paper on it, once I picked up the paper I noticed the top of it ,it read Willie Lynch Letter. I am one for self education meaning I either watch or read something that i was already aware of who Willie Lynch was unlike my classmates. The teacher made everyone read the letter aloud they all be became enraged after reading this expert of the letter, “ I HAVE A FULL PROOF METHOD FOR CONTROLLING YOUR BLACK SLAVES.
