One significant change during this period was the preface of the Points System in 1967, which revolutionized the evaluation process for illegal immigrants (Stat can, 2016). The Points System allowed for a more realistic assessment of immigrants based on criteria like education, skill, and language proficiency. The rejection of discriminatory programs and the acceptance of deportees from countries similar to Vietnam played significant roles in shaping Canada's multicultural identity during this period. These modifications altered both the social structure and the country's financial structure, transforming Canada into a country that values and celebrates variety.
