This paper is a career counseling plan for Katie Golanski, and examines her current skills, her potential as well as future goals. Several assessments will be examined, and related to the career plan, such as the Kuder scale, and Meyers Brigg. Specific career counseling theories will also be applied to the proposal. Finally, recommendations for Katie will be made to take advantage of her assets. Katie is a twenty-three year old, single, Caucasian female with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and Sociology/Criminology from William Penn University. Relating to a counseling career as well as coaching were, helping others, helping society, influencing people, knowledge, working with others and excitement. In either career Katie would be working and assisting others and able to use her knowledge to help others grow. Coaching would provide recognition and add an element of excitement that she seeks. Additionally, she expressed a desire to be in a career where she was able to problem solve, which will be found in either counseling or coaching. She scored highest in the social personality type, revealing abilities within her nature for a range of social careers. She stated that interacting with others is important to her, whether in casual or work settings. She has genuine concern for others and would best fit in a job where she is able to care for others. According to Nuekrag and Fawcett “social people are nurturers, helpers and caregivers who have a high degree of concern for others. They are introspective and insightful and prefer work environments in which they can use their intuitive and caregiving skills” (2015). Her second highest category is conventional, displaying a preference for organization and detail oriented tasks. These skills are exhibited in her work as a basketball coach. She is conservative in her views, and has proven her stability, and dependability in the various positions she has held, whether voluntary or paid.
