La Bamba is a film based on a true story of a talented Latino American teenager who is a rock ‘n roll sensation named Ritchie Valens. The film was made in 1987 and holds a special place in people’s mind because of the depictions of a Latino family living in America. This film is about the rise of Ritchie and the reoccurring nightmare of a plane crash that haunted him for years turned out to be his deadly fate. While at school Ritchie meets his new girlfriend Donna, Donna is from what appears to be a middle or upper class white family whereas Ritchie is from a lower class Latino family. Donna’s parents are against her dating a Latino boy and her parents wanted to keep them apart from each other because Ritchie had nothing to offer Donna but his music and hope of someday making a name for himself. Ritchie and his band start putting shows together and in one of his shows he meets Bob Keane, his soon to be manger the man who convinces him to change his last name from Valenzuela to Valens. Bob Keane advised Ritchie to lose the rest of his band because he was the talent. Afterward, he starts recoding songs with Keane and gets his songs played on the radio. Ritchie and his brother Bob take a trip one day to Tijuana, Bob’s mission is to turn his younger brother into a man, But Ritchie sees a small local band playing La Bamba, this catches his attention and he joins them in playing the song.
