“The Lego Group got its start in the carpentry workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen. He started making wooden toys in 1932. He began calling his company ‘Lego’ in 1934, based upon the Danish phrase leg godt, which means ‘play well.’”(Wonderopolis) As stated, Legos have been around for quite a while, and they were mainly created to give kids a chance to build whatever they could possibly imagine. And with new Lego bricks that come out very often, you can build the stuff that you couldn’t before. Including light up bricks, and bricks with motors. Lego bricks can give children educational benefits including creativity skills, teaches them computer coding, and helps them learn shapes and colors as a young infant.

“Computer coding with LEGO® is a great introduction to the world of coding using a favorite building toy. Yes, you can teach young kids about computer coding, especially if they are highly interested in computers and how they work.” LEGO Mindstorms teaches kids not only the basics of building Legos, but it also teaches them the simple computer programming skills. If kids start to code on this, they might want to learn more about it. It not only involves coding, but building your own things is a very big part of Lego Mindstorms as well. It may be expensive, but you're building and coding your own robot. Sometimes kids make their Lego mindstorms for help around the house, or for an RC car. They can basically create anything they want, there are no limits. The Lego mindstorms program teaches the basics of coding, by using block programming. It is the least hardest of all of the programs, which is why it is good for young children. If it was very hard coding, the child may want to give up very easily. But that’s the thing, it’s not. Lego made sure that their company was suitable for very young children, giving them many educational benefits. “It sells most of its bricks in kit form in big and expensive boxes with intricate instructions on how to build a lot remarkable things like space rockets or sunken ships.”(Fogule2) What’s cool about Legos is that all of the bricks are compatible with one another, making it easy for someone to buy a set, destroy it, and make something else out of it. Legos can only be stepped on when you lose them. It could also teach someone how to organize better, so they wouldn’t step on their Legos or lose them in the first place. Legos are very much too expensive. The only reason that Legos are so expensive is because they give children all of the education benefits that are listed in this paper. You could by smaller sets with just bricks for very cheap. As you can see, the pros outweigh the cons on this subject of the matter.
Computer coding, learning shapes and colors as an infant, and getting creativity skills are all educational benefits you can get by building Legos. Legos have been used at at schools for a while, and this helps advance my claim because schools are probably the place you get the most education. So, if they use Legos, it must show something, right? Legos have been used to help kids play games like memory as well. Legos can help so many kids do so many things, it’s hard not to agree. When Lego was created, it wasn’t just to be a toy. It was for kids to do whatever they want. And it still
