Darkness falls and he can’t see, but he can hear them. He always hears them. He has been hearing them since that one night. They keep him awake through the night. They scream at him to stop listening, but he can’t help it. He has tried to get rid of them by ignoring them. He has tried talking to people about them but everyone thought he was crazy. And now walking in the darkness, he hears them, they won’t let him forget. They won’t let him forget about his one mistake. The one mistake that caused a path of destruction. His whole life was there one minute and then POOF! gone. One little mistake that cost him his life. Why did he have to leave the door open? Why didn’t he think about it? Why? Why? Why? The voices screamed in his head and he needed a way out. He needed to figure out something to fix it, but how?
It all started that terrible day. His wife and kids were outside playing in the backyard. It was a clear sunny day. Out of the blue, dark grey clouds rolled in, the kind of clouds that you can smell the rain in. He ushered his kids and wife inside. All through the day lightning struck in the distance. Loud crackling thunder sounded every few seconds. His kids screamed. He tried to comfort them but they wouldn’t stay still. They weren’t screaming because of the storm though, they were screaming because someone had broken into the house. The kids’ cries filled the air as he rushed towards the intruder. He tries to tackle the man to the ground, but the intruder knocks him into the ground and he loses consciousness. …show more content…

He had spent most of it already but now he was looking for a place to settle down. He finally found it in the countryside. There he settled down and eventually so did his wife and kids. The kids had plenty of room to play outside and in the barn. Their favorite animal to play with was the pig, although the pig wasn’t too happy about it. All together he was very happy, until that day
