When examining three different “selfies” of myself, I noticed the way I conceal some of my traits and expose certain characteristics to show my “ideal” identity. Photo one, two, and three were each taken in different scenarios but contain similar traits. The three of my selfies produce a sense of my identity by showing characteristics such as sexuality, gender, and race; but also obscure my socio-economic status. By observing “photo one”, my femininity is obvious because of the outfit and pose. The high heels, makeup and outfit portray my sexuality and gender characteristics, as I intended to show my “feminine” identity. It is accurate that the background shows an audience, assuring my socio-economic status could possibly be high or mid class. The environment displays my “ideal self”, but in reality, the cost of the floor seating for that concert was inexpensive. This type of selfies portrays my desire to be a fashionista and show my viewers how I style a “simple” outfit possibly for an everyday event. The lighting, pose, and filter of the photo makes it appear hipster and fashionable. My goal is for my viewers to like the outfit and see my “fashionista” identity. But is that my true identity? Maybe. My passion for fashion is certain, but my “real self” is, I don’t dress fashionable on an everyday basis.
