Through out this course I have learned many things about the social and political perspective in nursing. One of the major issues that I have learned is about nursing shortage. I have always viewed this issue as not having enough nurses to fulfill the jobs that are available, however my views and ideas have changed greatly due to the readings and research. For example, I stated that health care administrative cut down the number of nurses to help reduce the cost on the hospital. This could be true, however it is a more complex issue than that. I have learned that there isn’t a shortage of nurses but rather their workload has increased resulting in an increased demand for nurses. I believe that the strategy to eliminate nursing shortage was to promote nursing to try and get more people to become a nurse. My views towards this strategy have changed tremendously. I now know that nurses need to listen to each other’s views, assess their work in the healthcare system and ask who is best qualified to undertake this work (McIntyre & McDonald, 2014). My views have defiantly changed about nursing shortage and it gives me more of an insight towards nursing and how I can get involved by …show more content…

I have never heard about globalization before, so it was defiantly a new topic that I was interested in. As I was researching about globalization I initially thought that there was nothing wrong with it and it has helped us in so many ways. I had never really thought about how globalization can impact the health of many individuals. Learning about globalization has really opened my eyes about how it has effected poor populations. All nurses should know about globalization because it can give many opportunities to work across the borders with other health systems and learn about health and education to develop new research to improve health inequities
