Cancer has been recently claiming more lives than it did in the past. I have had friends and close relatives die from various types of cancer in their prime ages. People have been blaming the out break of cancer on the food we eat and the chemicals that are added to them, whiles others claim the air and water we drink is heavily toxic. Cancer begins in the cells that are found in the body and then grow out of control by spreading all over the other parts of the body. Any type of cells in the body can be cancerous and has the ability to spread to the rest of the body. I have chosen to write about osteosarcoma, which is a type of bone cancer that my grand father died from. Osteosarcoma is also known as osteogenic sarcoma, this form of cancer begins from the bones. • Osteoclasts are used to break done bone matrix and prevent a build up of too much of it and also helps bones to maintain a proper shape. These two cells found the in bones also deposits or removes minerals from the bones, and also help control the amount of these minerals in the blood. Osteosarcoma is the most common type of cancer that develops in bone ("Osteosarcoma | Osteosarcoma Causes, Treatment, Cure, Symptoms, Prevention | Modasta", 2017). The cells that are involved in causing this type of cancer are like the osteoblasts in normal bone, the cells that form this cancer make bone matrix. Therefore, the bone matrix of an osteosarcoma is not as strong as that of normal bones because most of osteosarcomas happen in children and young adults. Thus, teens are the most commonly affected age group, but osteosarcoma can occur at any age. It is common in children especially the tall ones because osteosarcomas normally develop in areas where the bone is growing too quick around the knee
