I am not lazy, but as a concerned citizen I find it very troubling that the youth nowadays are not getting enough participation trophies. They need all the support they can get from adults, this world can be very mean and they need to be sheltered from it at all cost. The only way to get the younger generation ready for the real world is to make sure they always know that their best is fine, and so they can be sheltered from the harsh world around them. Instead of criticizing these kids when they fail, we need to comfort them and tell them they did their best, it is best for them and society. Maybe we need to remind adults, and especially coaches, that the only way that the younger generations will be successful is if we protect them at all cost from the realities of the world. When kids fail, participation trophies will make them feel better because everyone else got one, they will understand that there best is all that matters. Participation Awards/Trophies are basically used to give to kids that participated in a certain event or sport and was not able to receive an award for placing usually in the top 4 (“Are participation trophies worthwhile”). Participation Awards help us prepare the younger generations for the real world and are essential for success in their adulthoods. Participation trophies are the only way to get people to feel good about themselves and what they have accomplished. They are essential in keeping kids involved in sports and keeping their self-esteem high (Welsh).
