Prescription drug abuse is taking medication more than advised by the doctor, or take a medication that has been advised for another individual. Prescription and over the counter drugs are most commonly abused by 12th graders, after the use of illegal drugs.According Healthyamericans “around 50 americans die from prescription painkiller overdoses each day”(4). There are more than 70,000 children go to emergency every year taking medicine belonging to an adult. Adults males abuse more drugs than females, But teenage females abuse more than teenage males. “Men ages 25 to 54 have the highest numbers of prescription drug overdoses and are around twice as likely to die from an overdoses than women” (Healthyamericans 9). The treatment depends on the types of drug used. Two main categories of drug addiction treatment are behavioral and pharmacological. Behavioral treatments helps patients stop drug by teaching them strategies to function without drugs. Some medication, can be treated with medications such as opioids. Like all other drug abuse, using prescription drugs for the wrong reasons has a serious risk. Opioid abuse can lead to vomiting, mood changes, decrease the ability to think, and even decrease respiratory function, coma, or death. the risk is high when prescription drugs are like opioid are taken with other substance like alcohol. Central Nervous System Depressants have risk, too. Stopping or reducing them too quickly can lead to seizures. Taking Central Nervous System with other medication such as some over the counter cold and allergy medications, or alcohol can slow a person's heartbeat and breathing and even kill them. Stimulants can causes heart failure or seizures. these risks increased when ADHD medication are mixed with other medication. According to NIDA report series “ In 2007, the number of overdose death from prescription opioids outnumbered death from heroin and cocaine combined” (3). The problem with Prescription and Over the counter drug abusing needs a new
