Recidivism and prison reentry has caused a challenge in the criminal justice system for many years. The reason that recidivism has caused a huge impact on prison reentry is because when a ex-prisoner is released back into the community, theres’s no guarantee that the ex-prisoner will not relapse and commit a new crime. The criminal justice should create better regulation to reduce recidivism in prison reentry. I think one regulation should be that prison rehabilitation programs should include programs that aim to help immates cope in the community when they’re released from prison. After prisoner’s are released from prison, I think offenders should continue with rehabilitation programs by choice or under community supervision. The communities where the authorities integrate former offenders need to be prepared in advance, for example, they should encourage offenders to feel at home and not criticized. The criminal justice system can change the revocation and prison practices to reduce recidivism in prison reentry because the system can use voluntary parole release to integrate parole release guidelines that can be formed mostly on prediction of recidivism. Reconsidering post-prison supervision and services can reduce recidivism in prison reentry programs by using stronger community supervision systems, target services, and surveillance to offenders with excessive risk and need profiles.
