Description Prosopagnosia, also called face blindness is an impairment in the recognition of faces. They may not recognise the faces of their closest friends and family, or their own face in the mirror. Not surprisingly, prosopagnosia can create social problems. One of the patients is Barry Wainwright. He is a husband and a father. He said that he have the condition prosopagnosia which can be inherited or caused by brain injury, although neither applies to him. True prosopagnosia is caused by an impairment in the right hemisphere of the brain the specifically identifies faces. For him, the world is like a sea of unfamiliar faces.
