By using love, Shakespeare makes the controversial point that love is worth fighting for, departing from the traditional idea that once you have love everything falls into line. Throughout the story, we come across sacrifices between Romeo and Juliet, and possibly even the families. As it seems as though Romeo and Juliet put love as their priority. Will it affect the way they view their families, or will it just all fall apart? They are both so young, and believe that once in love always in love, so why not fight for what you feel. Throughout the play it seems as though the more love that is shown, the same amount of devastation/hurt that tends to come along. Early in the play, Romeo says, “O brawling love, O brawling hate” (1.1.166). Romeo is referring to the added troubles Juliet and himself have caused between their families (Montagues and Capulets) due to the fact that they have fallen in love. Even then, how do you know everything will go smoothly. In Romeo and Juliet love is shown between two young lovers who believed to be in ¨love at first sight¨. These two lovers are also willing to do whatever it takes to be together, even if it means death. The text states, ¨Then I defy you, stars!¨ (5.1.24). In this quotation, Romeo is saying he will do whatever it takes to be with the women who won over his heart, whether it means actually dying for love. In conclusion, is love worth fighting for? No matter what, every relationship is one you have to work for. In this case, Romeo and Juliet never gave up on one another, making young love sound easier than it might actually be. Although both are dead now, we can agree they died due to love and without their strong feelings towards each other we don't exactly know where they would be at this point in time.
